Tiderise (the "App") is made by Gybe Digital LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company ("Gybe Digital," "we," "us," or "our"). This policy covers the App on iPhone, Apple Watch and Android, including its widgets. Our websites are covered separately by the Website Privacy Policy. Questions: support@gybedigital.co.
Tiderise works without an account. The following is stored only on your device and is never sent to us:
If you allow location access, the App uses your position to show tides and conditions for the nearest coastal point. To get a forecast, the App sends those coordinates, without your identity, to the data providers listed below. We do not store your location on our servers, link it to you, or sell it. You can deny or turn off location access at any time in your device settings and pick spots by hand instead.
Session routes. When you start a session and "Record route in sessions" is on, the App records your GPS position about every 15 seconds until you end the session, including while your phone is locked (your phone shows a location indicator or a notification while this happens). Recording never runs outside a session you started. The route is saved on your device with that session, is never uploaded, and is deleted when you delete the session. You can turn route recording off in Settings.
The App asks for these only when you use the feature that needs them:
Tiderise Pro is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. The store processes your payment; we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to know whether Pro is active and to restore purchases. RevenueCat receives a random, app-specific identifier and your purchase receipt, not your name or email.
To show forecasts and maps, the App sends location coordinates (never your identity) to these providers, each under its own privacy policy:
Alerts and the morning summary are scheduled on your device. We do not run a push server and cannot see when a notification fires.
No account, no ads, no tracking. We do not collect your name, email, contacts or browsing history, and we do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
Tiderise is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age where you live). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because your data lives on your device, you control it directly: change it in the App, turn off permissions in your device settings, or delete the App to remove its data. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR/UK GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access or delete personal information. We hold none about you on our own servers; for purchase records held by the app stores or RevenueCat, email us and we will help.
Data on your device stays until you change it or delete the App. Deleting a session deletes its photos and route. We take reasonable steps to protect the limited information our providers process for us, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
We may update this policy as the App changes. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and note significant changes in the App.
